Handoff

Plan knowledge transfer before signing

The proposal focuses on configuration or launch but says little about documentation, staff capability, access removal, or support after delivery.

Selection principle

The nonprofit should be able to operate, explain, change, and exit what it pays to implement.

The proposal focuses on configuration or launch but says little about documentation, staff capability, access removal, or support after delivery.

Use it in the selection process

Start with these decisions

  1. List the accounts, configurations, source materials, documentation, and decisions the nonprofit must own.
  2. Name the staff roles that need administrator, operator, reviewer, and onboarding knowledge.
  3. Define acceptance, training, defect correction, support, and change responsibilities.
  4. Specify how consultant access ends and how the nonprofit retrieves its materials.

Pause point

Do not let an impressive proposal replace accountable nonprofit judgment

Keep credentials and recovery codes in approved nonprofit-controlled storage. Contract, privacy, security, records, intellectual-property, and liability terms need qualified review for the actual engagement.
